An Oklahoma Turnpike Authority worker is killed and another injured after being struck by a semi while working alongside the Will Rogers Turnpike near Miami yesterday afternoon.

 

37-year-old Zac Rinehart was picking up trash along the highway around 2pm when a semi truck veered off the roadway, striking him and his work truck. Rinehart was pronounced deceased at the scene. He had been employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator for O-T-A for the past two years, and also served as a volunteer firefighter in the City of Vinita.

 

Another worker who was in the truck at the time of the accident sustained critical injuries and was taken via ambulance to a Joplin hospital.
