The Neodesha City Commission is working through the budget process for the upcoming fiscal year.
One of the main issues of concern for the City is the ability to cover the costs for fire protection and other emergency services. Recent financial issues have forced the City to reduce staffing for the Neodesha Fire Department. At the city commission's most recent meeting, Commissioner Duane Banzet proposed a possible solution to the problem. Banzet says he has given the issue a lot of consideration.
Bazet's initial proposal would see a modest increase in fees for all City services. He says such a move would generate just enough revenue to cover the shortfall.
Commissioners want to hear input from citizens regarding the issue. The public is invited to contact commissioners and attend the next Neodesha City Commission meeting, which will be held on August 27.
