A two-year-old child is dead after an apparent drowning in the Lake of the Ozarks.

The toddler wandered away from her home in Gravois Mills, Missouri, on Wednesday morning and was discovered around 10:30am floating in the water. The girl was taken to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, Missouri, where she was pronounced deceased.

The Missouri State Highway responded to the scene with assistance from the Gravois Fire Department and the Morgan County Sheriff's Department.
