The Independence City Commission approves a request from the Independence Housing Authority to commit four city-owned lots in an effort to secure a federal grant.
 

Executive Director of the Independence Housing Authority April Nutt spoke to the commission at their August 14th meeting. Nutt says the purpose is to help bring more affordable housing to the city.
 

Nutt adds that the purpose of the request is to show a commitment from the city to build new housing.

In other business, the commission also approved a downtown building grant for roof repairs at 113 West Myrtle.
