Students in Independence and Neodesha are headed back to class today.
Independence Chamber President Lisa Wilson says drivers should take extra care to help make sure students can get to where they are going safely.
Drivers should be on the lookout for students walking and biking to and from school this morning and this afternoon, and remember that it is against the law to pass a school bus that is loading or unloading children. Pay careful attention near bus stops and crosswalks, obey speed limits in school zones, and avoid distrctions while driving to make sure students have a safe first day of school.
Students in Caney, South Coffeyville, Nowata, and Sedan return to class tomorrow.
