The USD 446 school board will be having a special meeting with the City of Independence regarding the Central Park Sports Complex.

 

That's the latest from this month's school board meeting, following discussion earlier this summer between the two parties regarding the district's access of use of the complex for school sports.

 

USD 446 Superintendent Jason McAfee says the special meeting has been scheduled for next week.

 

Additional items of business at the August board meeting was a unanimous approval to publish the proposed 2025-26 budget, which will be voted on at next month's meeting. The district also recognized incoming freshman Daniel Han, who was awarded for his art work from the Kansas Department of Education.

 

USD 446 meets on the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the library of Independence High School. The public is invited to attend.
