Two people are seriously injured in a three-vehicle accident yesterday morning near Iola.
The accident occurred just before 11am and involved a head-on collision between two passenger cars. As a result of that collision, one of the vehicles then struck the back of a semi truck. The accident prompted the closure of US-169 while emergency crews responded to the scene. Injured in the accident were 36-year-old Anthony Edmondson of Lawrence and 22-year-old Jonathan Reiss of Oak Grove, Missouri. Edmondson was taken via ambulance to the Allen County Hospital in Iola, while Reiss was taken via helicopter to an Overland Park Hospital.
The driver of the semi 51-year-old Harold Osborne of Clay Center had no apparent injury and refused treatment at the scene.
