Montgomery County Considers Donation of Furniture for Courthouse

One Montgomery County family is looking to make trips to the county courthouse a little more comfortable.

Greg Knisley addressed the Montgomery County Commission this week seeking approval for his family to donate new benches for the main floor of the courthouse. Knisely says the county has always treated his family well, and they view this donation as a way to say thank you.

Knisley told commissioners that his family had owned and operated a garbage company and run the local landfill for 91 years. He stated that his great grandfather Milo, started the company in 1906. The current seating in the courthouse hallway is simple, wooden benches. Commissioner Mike Cordray says he thinks it's a great idea to change to more comfortable benches.

Commissioners gave their approval, and Knisley now plans to meet with Building Supervisor Jeff Phelps to move forward with the project.
