An All-Star team of 12-and-under baseball players from Frontenac will be playing for a championship title in the Cal Ripken World Series.
The group of boys will travel to Branson where the Cal Ripken World Series begins today. The same group of players competed in the 10-and-under World Series two years ago and hope to advance even further in this year's series.
The Cal Ripken League differs slightly from the Little League World Series in that the Little League World Series features international teams, while Cal Ripken is mostly made up of teams from the U.S. Cal Ripken also uses a larger field, with greater distances between bases and from the pitcher's mound to home plate.
The Frontenac All-Stars will open tournament play tomorrow at 9am.
