The Kansas Department of Transportation is warning about a new scam.

This scam is circulating via text message. The texts claim to be from KDOT and the Kansas Department of Motor Vehicles giving a final notice of unpaid traffic tickets. KDOT does not collect money for traffic tickets or tolls and will never request or collect payments through text messages. These messages are not legitimate.

KDOT says to not click or open any links within these scam texts. Clicking on these links could expose personal and financial information to scammers. Never share sensitive personal or financial details via text message or by clicking unknown links.
