Work-Based Learning Program Popular in USD 446

Gaining work experience is an important part of a young person's life.

However, finding ways to get that experience can sometimes be a challenge. USD 446 in Independence is providing students with a way to gain valuable work experience through a work-based learning program. Work-based learning give students the chance to shadow professionals in a wide variety of businesses to earn experience while connecting classroom learning to future careers. Independence High School Principal Kurt Seiler says the program has grown increasingly popular at IHS.

Work-based learning allows students to explore career options, develop skills, and prepare for post-secondary education or for employment. Seiler says IHS is always looking for local businesses to participate in the program.

The program allows students to apply academic, technical, and other skills in a work environment. Any business interested should call IHS at 620-332-1815
