Authorities in Greenwood County have recovered the body of a man from the Madison City Lake.

The lake is located just outside of the City of Madison or about 20 miles south of Emporia. The drowning was reported to the Greenwood County Sheriff's Office just before 5pm on Saturday. A search and rescue effort was launched that lead to the recovery of the man’s body around 9pm that night.

Authorities have not yet released the name or age of the victim.
