The Parsons Police Department responds to reports of an armed man threatening self-harm at a city park.
Officers responded on Saturday to Forest Park after 9-1-1 dispatch received reports of a man armed with a knife. Upon arrival, officers located the man who was making his way toward the center of the park, where numerous other citizens were located. The suspect refused to listen to commands to stop, and a taser was deployed. The man was incapacitated and taken into custody. P-P-D has identified the man as 36-year-old William Lee Bowman. Bowman currently faces multiple charges, including Aggravated Assault of a Law Enforcement Officer, Causing Terror Evacuation or Disruption, and Use of a Deadly Weapon.
According to Parsons Police, no gunshots were fired during the incident.
