Students in Howard will be able to enjoy free breakfasts and lunches at school during the upcoming school year.

USD 282 West Elk has announced its schools will be participating in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program's Community Eligibily Provision for the new school year that is set to begin in the next few weeks. The program will allow the West Elk district to serve breakfast and lunch at no cost to all enrolled students without collecting household applications. The program comes through the Food and Nutrition Service from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Classes begin in Howard on August 11.
