Dividing up surplus funding was a topic of conversation at the latest Osage County Commissioners meeting.
During the meeting, Osage County Assessor Ed Quinton Jr. informed the board of a surplus fund. With those funds, he suggested giving each district $75,000 for the commissioners to use as they see fit. Quinton added that he would like to see this happen going forward with each district.
District One Commissioner Anthony Hudson says the funding should be distributed by district size instead of being divided equally.
District Two Commissioner Steve Talburt, who represents the smallest of the three districts in Osage County, disagrees.
Talburt made a motion to approve the $75,000 in funding for each district. District Three Commissioner Charlie Cartwright made a second on the motion, with Hudson voting no.
