A Noel woman pleads not guilty to abuse of her disabled adopted son.
54-year-old Catiga Arnett was charged with abuse of an elderly, disabled, or vulnerable person after the March 7th incident.
Freeman Hospital EMTs responded to the victim's home on March 7th in Noel. An investigator with the Department of Health and Senior Services says the victim was on his bedroom floor wearing only an adult diaper, with no bedding, and was missing necessary medical equipment. He also showed signs of severe neglect, including extreme bedsores. Due to the severity of the bed sores, the victim's legs required amputation.
The victim suffers from Spina Bifida, which renders him paraplegic. Authorities say that he is developmentally delayed.
Arnett's next court appearance is scheduled for August 13.
