The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Neosho County Sherriff’s Office arrest an Erie man for child sex crimes.

KBI agents and Neosho County Sheriff deputies arrested 42-year-old registered sex offender Peter Hawkinson. He was arrested for 24 counts of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of violating the Kansas offender registration.

The KBI Child Victims Unit began investigating after a cyber-tip was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in May. Following the arrest, Hawkinson was booked into the Neosho County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
