A Galena man has been charged in Newton County, Missouri, with child sex crimes.

 25-year-old Chance Watkins is being held without bond on charges of child kidnapping and enticement of a child.

 Court records say Watkins messaged a 13-year-old girl through Snapchat in March, and the two exchanged explicit messages. Investigators say Watkins picked the girl up at her house, took her to Cunningham Park in Joplin, and allegedly sexually assaulted her. Court documents also say Watkins only stopped when the victim's mother began trying to contact him via Snapchat. Watkins then took her home and dropped her at the end of the driveway.

 The victim's mother stated she was woken up by her older daughter, informing her that the victim was missing. Her mother says they searched for her for a couple of hours before she arrived back home with her clothes inside out and backwards.
