An Independence man is facing a felony charge in Oklahoma after allegedly eluding police.
29-year-old Lance Cheshier was charged on Monday with endangering others while eluding police, driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, transporting an open container of an intoxicating beverage and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, on July 20, the Caney Police Department was in pursuit of a southbound vehicle on US-75 near the intersection with West 600 Road in Washington County, or about 5 miles south of the state line.
Cheshier then stopped in Dewey where police say he admitted that he had been drinking. Officers recovered multiple alcoholic containers from his vehicle as well as a metal pipe containing black residue.
Cheshier will make his next court appearance on Friday. His bond is set at $25,000.
