Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputies Take Part in Statewide LEO Shooting Contest

Several members of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office compete in a statewide law enforcement shooting competition.

Three deputies traveled to Wellington last weekend to take part in the Statewide Law Enforcement Shooting Match sponsored by the Kansas Peace Officers Association. Deputy Chris Bishop, Corporal Steve Gass and Deputy Ralph Jones competed against other law enforcement officers from across the state of Kansas in their use of both pistols and rifles. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office reports that the trio did not do as well as they had hoped in the pistol division, but they excelled in the rifle category and were strong contenders for top honors. The group also gained experience and are planning to attend next year's competition as well.

The three deputies spent many off-duty, non-work hours preparing for the competition. This was the first time the Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputies participated in the event.
