Kansas DCF Awards Contracts to Modernize Child Welfare System

The Kansas Department for Children and Families has awarded three major contracts to launch its new Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System.

The changes are aimed at modernizing outdated systems used by child welfare and adult protective services. The $100 million project will also consolidate multiple existing systems into a single platform, in an attempt to improve data sharing, streamline processes, and enhance services across agencies. RedMane Technology LLC was awarded a $44 million contract for system design, development, and implementation, while two other companies will provide independent verification and validation and quality assurance.

The overhaul will roll out over the next four years using both state and federal funding. Officials expect it to enhance collaboration among state partners and improve service delivery to Kansas families. DCF Secretary Laura Howard emphasized the transformative impact of the new system, stating that it will replace outdated technology with a modern infrastructure designed to better serve children and families across the state.
