Citizen's Tip Leads to Arrest in Parsons

 

A tip from a Parsons' resident leads to the arrest of a multi-time felon.

 

A concerned citizen contacted the Parsons Police Department after observing an individual acting suspicious in the 1400 block of Belmont Avenue. The suspicious person was on a bicycle with an attached cart, and according to the report was snooping around a vacant house. A PPD officer attempted to make contact with the individual and he immediately fled on foot and entered a nearby residence.

 

The officer went after the suspect and entered the residence, where he located and apprehended the individual, later identified as 45-year-old Neil Avery. During the encounter, Avery resisted arrest and fought with officers. He was taken into custody and initially booked on charges of interference with law enforcement and battery on a law enforcement officer.
