Montgomery County Prepares for Upcoming Road Projects

Montgomery County prepares for upcoming projects to improve county roads.

Public Works Director Brandon Beurskins appeared before the commission Monday and addressed several upcoming projects. Beurskins says there will be several chip seal projects starting next Monday.

Beurskins added that the chip seal projects to take about a week to complete, while the work on County Road 3900 between Independence and Coffeyville will take about three weeks to complete. All projects will have flaggers and a pilot car to guide motorists through the single lane work zones.

Commissioners also approved $138,000 for the design of an upcoming project to replace a bridge and widen the shoulders on Peter Pan Road. That project is slated to begin some time in 2027 at a cost of $2.1 million dollars. KDOT will pay for most of the cost for the work, with Montgomery County covering about $400,000 of the total cost.
