A weekend traffic stop in Labette County leads to the seizure of five pounds of methamphetamine.
The traffic stop occurred on Sunday when a Labette County sheriff's Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a driver for speeding in Chetopa. The deputy deployed a K-9 officer for an open-air sniff of the vehicle and the dog alerted to the presence of illegal drugs. A search of the vehicle revealed the presence of a large quantity of meth in the trunk of the car.
62-year-old Paul Ray Stevens was arrested and faces charges of Distribution of a Narcotic, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Paraphernalia with the intent to Manufacture a Controlled Substance.
Also taken into custody was 25-year-old Krista Holland for outstanding warrants in Labette and Montgomery Counties. Both are being held in the Labette County Jail.
