Webb City Woman Arrested Following Police Pursuit

A Webb City woman is in custody and facing multiple charges following a police chase late last week.

On Thursday afternoon, authorities received reports of a suspicious vehicle in a rural area of Jasper County, just east of Carthage. Sheriff’s deputies located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver fled. The pursuit then continued through the county for an additional 25 miles. Law enforcement says, during the pursuit, the driver called 9-1-1 and falsely reported a shooting at an address in the County. The suspect also repeatedly drove on the wrong side of the road and into the yards of nearby residences, causing multiple instances of property damage.

After getting stuck in the mud for a brief period, the driver was eventually stopped after driving into a yard and around a house, where the car collided with a patrol vehicle. 36-year-old Helen K. Stark was arrested on two felony failure to appear warrants and also faces additional charges including DWI and misuse of 9-1-1. She is being held in the Jasper County Detention Center in Carthage, where she awaits formal charging.
