An extreme heat warning remains in effect through 7 p.m. Wednesday for all of eastern Kansas and 7 p.m. Thursday for southern Missouri.

 

Heat index values up to 110 are possible, with temperatures across the area in the upper 90s.

 

The National Weather Service says to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room if possible, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.  Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles, as car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
