The world's largest amateur rodeo is underway this week in Pawhuska.
The Pawhuska Cavalcade and Rodeo takes place this week. Last night was the first day of the rodeo events and there is a lot to be seen and done on the Osage County fairgrounds in Pawhuska. Osage County Sheriff Bart Perrier is no stranger to the yearly event. Perrier has been to all but two Cavalcades in his life and even participated in the rodeo into his early 20s. Now that he is sheriff of Osage County, Perrier says his job is to keep everyone safe.
The Cavalcade began in 1947, making this the 78th year for the amateur rodeo. More than 10,000 people are expected to enjoy the event this year. The Cavalcade and Rodeo run through Sunday in Pawhuska.
