County fair season is underway, and here's a look at events going on today around the area.

 

At the Elk County Fair in Howard, the livestock skillathon takes place this afternoon at 12:30 followed by the 4-H sheep show at 5 and the goat show at 6.

 

Judging for food preservation, sewing, shopping and fashion took place earlier this week for the Labette County Fair. The next events are scheduled for Saturday with the horse and dog shows.

 

Sewing and shopping judging has also taken place for the Montgomery County fair, which kicks off next Tuesday in Independence.

 

In Wilson County, 4-H clothing and style revue judging will take place on Friday, followed by the horse show Saturday morning at the fairgrounds.

 

For the Cherokee County Fair, the meat goat show takes place this morning at 9 a.m. followed by the beef show tonight at 5 in Columbus.
