Several local groups are awarded funding from the Kansas Arts Commission.
Three southeast Kansas groups will share part of $1 million in total funding to be invested in the arts programs of non-profit organizations, local governments, and colleges and universities across the state. The Inge Festival Foundation in Independence and the Fredonia Arts Council have each been granted $10,000 through the Arts Everywhere Program. This program provides funding for educational institutions, arts organizations, and community service non-profits to use the arts to increase student success, foster creative thinking, develop critical job skills, enhance community development, and increase participation in the arts across Kansas. The City of Coffeyville will also receive a $10,000 grant for public arts and murals.
In return, these organizations are required to provide a dollar-for-dollar investment match. The funding reinforces K-A-C’s role as a catalyst for economic development and community vitality. The state’s vibrant arts and culture industry supported nearly 50,000 Kansas jobs and contributed $5.47 billion to the state economy.
