An Oklahoma man is sentenced to life in prison for the 2024 murder of a Carl Junction man.
31-year-old Scott Burleson of Wyandotte, OK, was sentenced this week for his role in the March 2024 stabbing death of Seth Langford. Burleson pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in May for his role in the crime. As part of the plea deal, prosecutors agreed to drop additional charges of first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.
A second suspect charged in Langford's death was Paul Phillips of Seneca, MO. Phillips also accepted a plea deal by pleading guilty to a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm. He was sentenced to ten years in prison, but that penalty was later suspended to five years of supervised probation.
