Coffeyville Public Schools is making a change to the length of the school day and the start of the school year.
Assistant Superintendent Michael Speer says the school year will start on August 19th and each school day is 10 minutes longer. Adding 10 minutes each day decreases the number of days students are in school from 172.5 to 169.5.
Superintendent Dr. Craig Correll says several things went into the decision to make this change. In other business, the board also approved a $1000 increase to the base pay of teachers, raising it up to $46,900. The base pay for first-year hourly workers was also raised to $15.30.
