The passenger in a crash in Nowata County is dead, almost a month after the crash.
The accident happened on June 4th in Nowata County. 75-year-old Michael Ray Melton, Sr. of Nowata, was the passenger in a 2015 Infiniti driven by 78-year-old Sherry Melton. After the crash, Michael was admitted to St. Francis Hospital in critical condition with chest injuries. He died earlier this month from injuries sustained in the crash.
A 2013 Ford F-150, driven by 40-year-old Derick Schondel of Talala, was involved in the crash. Schondel was taken to Jane Phillips Hospital, where he was treated and released. Sherry was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where she was also treated and released.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
