The Montgomery County Commission votes to raise the limit for the revenue neutral rate.
The vote came at today’s meeting following a request from County Administrator Jonathan Booe. Booe says the request comes because of several ongoing budgetary issues that have been left unaddressed over the course of several years.
Booe added that his request doesn’t mean the rate will increase but that it will simply set the limit higher. Recent work on the county budget has seen significant cuts, and Booe says there may need to be more to remain revenue neutral.
Booe says that an additional $2 million in cuts may be needed.
In other business, commissioners approved the purchase of a $3,000 compactor for Public Works and the purchase of 10 A-R rifles for the Sheriff’s Department at a total cost of $26,000.
