Cherryvale School Board Expected to Exceed Revenue Neutral Rate

The USD 447 Cherryvale-Thayer School Board is expected to announce plans to exceed the revenue-neutral rate for the coming year at tonight's regular meeting.

[In Kansas, the "revenue neutral rate" (RNR) is the property tax mill levy rate that would generate the same total property tax revenue as the previous year, based on the current year's assessed property values. This rate ensures that a taxing entity—such as a city, county, or school district—collects the same dollar amount in property taxes, regardless of changes in property valuations. If a jurisdiction plans to exceed the revenue-neutral rate, it means they intend to collect more property tax revenue in the upcoming budget year than they did in the prior year.]

Also on tonight's agenda will be a discussion of dates, times, and locations for board meetings during the upcoming school year.

Tonight's meeting begins at 7pm in the library at Cherryvale High School. It is open to the public.
