Fort Scott Announces the Name of Its New Summer League Baseball Team

Fort Scott announces the name of its brand-new baseball team: The Fort Scott Dragoons.

The new team will be a part of the Mid-America League and becomes the seventh franchise to join the collegiate summer baseball league. The team name, the Dragoons, was submitted by a fan and was publicly revealed during a ceremony at a “Summer Series” game held over the weekend in Fort Scott between two other Mid-America League teams, the Texarkana Rhinos and the Joplin Outlaws. The name pays tribute to Fort Scott’s military history, dating back to the 1840s and the mounted soldiers who served in the area.

The Dragoons will begin play next summer at the LaRoche Baseball Complex in Fort Scott. Other teams in the league include Fort Smith, Arkansas, and teams from Abilene, Sherman, and White Oak, Texas. Another new team based in Beaumont, Texas, will also join the league for the 2026 season.
