Sheriff's Office Investigating Animal Cruelty Incident in Montgomery County

***** Warning: This story contains a graphic image depicting animal cruelty *****

Sheriff Ron Wade and the entire Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office say they're deeply disturbed and disgusted by a recent act of unimaginable cruelty discovered in the County.

Last night, Deputies responded to a scene where five dogs had been shot and left to die in the open northwest of Liberty at McTaggerts Dam on County Road 3800 west of County Road 4900.  The department calls it not only a crime but also an act of pure evil.

Sheriff Ron Wade says “The senseless killing of innocent animals is not only unacceptable, but also a violation of everything we stand for in this community. We do not tolerate cruelty, and we will use every resource available to find who did this. If you think for one second that we’re going to let this slide, you’re wrong.”

The department is asking the public for information, saying that this was not hunting or self-defense, but was slaughter. If you have any information that could lead to the identification of anyone responsible, please contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at (620) 330-1000 or message their Facebook page. Informants can remain anonymous.
