The City of Neodesha is forced to end its livestream of its regular City Commission meeting after its Zoom call is hacked.
City officials were forced to end yesterday's online portion of the meeting abruptly when it became apparent that malicious users were broadcasting inappropriate content during the livestream. City Administrator Brogan Jones says the individual managed to get around online security measures.
Jones says the City is taking steps to ensure the incident does not happen again.
The incident, known as Zoom-bombing, has become a security issue for the Zoom platform in recent years, and despite the company's efforts to contain it, the hacks do sometimes occur. The abrupt end of the livestream left many Neodesha residents unable to view the commission meeting. Jones says there were several key items of business.
The City has apologized for any indecent viewing during the meeting. Any citizens with questions about this week's agenda may contact City Hall to discuss it.
