A 22-year-old man has succumbed to his injuries sustained last week in a commercial fireworks explosion in Tuskahoma, Oklahoma.
Ely Smith passed away at a hospital on Tuesday, where he was being treated for severe burns suffered when a fire ignited commercial-grade fireworks during a delivery by Hance Pyrotechnics of Talequah last Wednesday. The delivery was part of the Boom in the Valley fireworks show in celebration of Independence Day.
The Choctaw Nation is currently investigating the cause of the accident. A GoFundMe has been set up to help Smith's family cover funeral expenses.
Four others were injured in the blast, two of them critically. All were employees of Hance Pyrotechnics.
