Tax revenues in Kansas for the month of June come in above estimates.
The State of Kansas ended the month with total tax collections of just over $1 billion. Those totals are $72 million or 7.4% above estimates and are about 3% higher than a year ago. Governor Laura Kelly stated that while she was pleased by the numbers, she was concerned that the budget created by the state legislature will have the state spending between $300 and $700 million more per year than it takes in. Kelly expressed concerns that the budget will put Kansas in the red by around $375 million by 2029.
