The City of Columbus installs a camera at their brush dump location to monitor what is being dropped off there.
Columbus has a brush, leaf and limb drop-off location near their sewer lagoons at 469 Southeast Messer Road, just south of the city limits. The City says they keep this facility open daily because they feel it is important to have a location where residents, business owners and contractors can dispose of these types of things.
The City says a majority of people who take advantage of this facility do so responsibly. However, they have noticed beds and other furniture being dumped illegally at this location. The City has purchased a camera, which is now on-site. The City says if this type of illegal dumping occurs again in the future, they will have no choice but to turn the information over to law enforcement.
