Kansas Couple on Their Way to Get Married Gets Surprise Congrats From Highway Patrol

A young couple driving from Shawnee, Kansas, to Colorado to get married get a pleasant surprise from the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The young man and woman were traveling on the Kansas Turnpike on their way to elope on Monday. They had written their plans on the rear window of their vehicle, along with a request to “buy them a drink” followed by a link to their Venmo. Their car was spotted by the Superintendent of the Kansas highway Patrol Colonel Erik Smith.

Smith told the couple that the reason he pulled them over was not to give them a ticket, but to congratulate them on their impending marriage and buy them a celebratory drink because he didn't have a venmo.

After a conversation and some selfies, Smith then sent the happy couple on their way.
