There's a slight chance of some rain for July 4th cookouts this evening, but rain chances will go down just in time for fireworks.

The National Weather Service says there's a low chance of some spotty hit-or-miss showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.  Southeast Kansas and northeast Oklahoma has about a 15% chance of rain around 6 p.m., with chances dropping off by 9 p.m. for fireworks.  There's an additional chance of rain later after midnight, but the main chances remain in central Kansas with the strongest activity capable of strong wind gusts and heavy rainfall.  Widespread severe weather is not expected.
