A 47-year-old man has died after a shed explosion rocked a Joplin neighborhood.

 Justin Rankin died at a Springfield hospital yesterday afternoon

 A 14-year-old girl who was also injured, but is in stable condition. The condition of a third person is unknown.

 Around 1:30 p.m. yesterday, Joplin police and fire responded to the 2500 block of South Virginia, responding to a 9-1-1 call about an explosion. They arrived to a destroyed shed with injuries.

The damage to the outbuilding is extensive, but with multiple propane tanks around the shed, authorities say the situation could have been much worse.

 Joplin Police and Fire and the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the cause of the explosion.
