KHP Offers Reminders and Tips for Safe Travel During 4th Weekend

The Kansas Highway Patrol offers some reminders for road safety during the 4th of July holiday weekend.

As traffic increases over the holiday, KHP reminds drivers to take precautions to stay safe on the roads. Drivers and passengers should always wear seatbelts, and children must be properly secured in the appropriate child safety seats. Those planning to consume alcohol over the weekend should designate a sober driver ahead of time. Additional KHP troopers will be on patrol during Independence Day and the following weekend. The focus will be on safe driving practices, addressing occupant protection, impaired driving, excessive speed and other crash-causing traffic violations.

KHP also offers tips on how to prepare and stay safe for the holiday. Make sure vehicles are road-ready with checked fluids and a full tank, stay prepared with emergency supplies and a charged phone, move over or slow down for roadside crews and offer non-alcoholic options if you're hosting a party.
