Residents in Nowata are being selected to participate in required water sample testing for lead and copper.

 Residences that are selected to participate in sample testing were selected by the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality. The DEQ pairs with the city every three years to provide testing for lead and copper in the city's water system.

 Water Plant Operator Jerry Jackson says this is routine testing.

 Samples must be taken on the morning of July 15 and the City of Nowata will pick up samples by noon on July 16.

 Residents who are selected will receive a letter from the city on the proper steps required to provide a sample.
