Mosquito Fogging Continues in Fredonia

City-wide mosquito fogging continues in Fredonia.

Applications typically begin between 6 and 7 p.m. on treatment days and will continue through September. Roadways will be treated on Tuesdays and alleys will be fogged on Thursdays.

The city says droplets make contact with adult mosquitoes and will not harm humans or pets. The treatment also kills gnats, bag worms and files.

Residents can actively manage mosquito populations in Fredonia by regularly inspecting their properties and eliminating standing water sources where mosquitoes may breed, such as in bird baths, flowerpots, wading pools, kid's toys and other receptacles.

Although mosquito control insecticides pose low risks, some people may prefer to minimize or to avoid exposure to these chemicals. You can do so by staying inside during fogging, closing doors and windows and not allowing children to play near trucks when they are in use.
