People of all ages attend the Coffeyville, Independence and Parsons Amateur Radio Club Field Day Event.
Coffeyville Amateur Radio Club President Public Information Officer John Vest says the age range was pretty impressive.
The club's new emergency communications trailer was deployed for the first time and Vest says operators made contacts across the United States and the world using emergency power.
The trailer was funded through private grants and donations and is expected to be used frequently at public events going forward.
The clubs made a total of 316 contacts, using voice, Morse code and digital modes. Licensed amateurs spoke to hams in 52 states and Canadian provinces including Puerto Rico and Hawaii in addition to Belize. ARRL Field Day takes place on the 4th weekend of June to showcase amateur radio to the public.
