Multiple suspects are in custody in connection to a shooting in Girard.
According to the Crawford County Sheriff's Office, Sunday just before 4 a.m., a shooting was reported at the Maple Tree Apartments in Girard. Deputies found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen, identified as 36-year-old Antaun R Sams, who was transported to Girard Medical center with non-life-threatening injuries and later transferred to a higher-level trauma center.
Less than a half hour after the shooting occurred, units responded to a home in Frontenac and arrested several suspects with help from the Frontenac Police Department, including 61-year-old Rickey Burns Sr., 33-year-old Rickey Burns Jr., 34-year-old Cody G. Hammond and 41-year-old Demitra A. Durden. The four were transported to the Crawford County Jail in Girard.
Charges include attempted murder, felony interference with law enforcement, felony in possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana.
