Storms are developing northeast of Wichita this afternoon and are moving to the southeast. Additional storm devlopment is possible for southeast Kansas including Montgomery, Wilson, Chautauqua and Elk Counties. If storms develop, up to 60 mph winds are possible along with quarter-sized hail. After 10 p.m., another round of storms may develop and move through southeast Kansas and could produce winds between 50 and 60 mph.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the KGGF listening area through 9 p.m. A marginal risk for severe weather will exist across portions of northeast Oklahoma and far northwest Arkansas late Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening. Severe weather threats will focus on damaging winds, but severe hail may also be a concern with a few storms. Heavy downpours can be expected as well, with a localized flash flooding threat. Remain alert for changing weather conditions if you have outdoor plans and be prepared to seek immediate shelter indoors if thunderstorms threaten. The counties included in the watch are:
