One of the premier events of the summer in Cherryvale returns this weekend.

 

The Fourth of July Freedom Fest takes place Saturday at Lake Tanko, with activities beginning at 7 a.m. and continuing throughtout the day until the fireworks show at 9 p.m.

 

Cherryvale City Administrator Michael Hall says Freedom Fest has become so much more than a fireworks show.

 

The Freedom Run 5k is open to all ages and begins with check-in at 6 a.m. and the run beginning at 7. The softball tournament begins 8 a.m., with teams made of seven men and three women. There will also be a free lunch at noon, kids games by 4H at 1:30, and food trucks and vendors at 5.
